In the art education world, you’ll often hear two camps: process art (open-ended exploration where the experience matters most) and product-based art (step-by-step projects designed to look a certain way at the end). To build creative confidence we sit intentionally in the middle.
Our Values
- Connection & Relationship First
- Process Forward
- Skill Building
- Choices = Original Work
- Materials Matter
- Good References (Not templates)
- Deep Respect for Children’s Art
- Teacher as Guide & Facilitator, not Director
Process Forward
We care most about what happens while kids are making: experimenting, taking risks, and learning to trust their own ideas.
- We praise effort, curiosity, persistence, and problem-solving.
- The finished work is often stunning, but it’s the learning behind it that lasts.
Skill Building & Developing Craft
We also teach age-appropriate fine art fundamentals through short, clear demonstrations and guided practice— things like:
- How to hold and control tools (brushes, markers, scissors, clay tools)
- Basic drawing strategies (observation, shapes, proportion, perspective)
- Color theory and paint mixing
- Composition, layering, and material techniques
