Most “behavior issues” are really just boredom, dysregulation, perfectionism, or insecurity. We redirect kids into an artistic habit: observe, try a test version, adjust, persist.

Here are some other tools we use to encourage positivive behavior in the classroom.

  1. Set the Tone
  2. Practice Non Reaction
  3. Redirect the Student
  4. Ignore It
  5. Use Positive Reinforcement
  6. Change Seating
  7. Take a Time Out
  8. Build Relationships

Set the Tone

The way you show up in the room has a significant impact on the group dynamic and the overall success of your class. You may notice that if you approach your demonstrations with a soft and calm voice, your students will react in a calm manner. If you’re excited and animated they will follow your lead.

Practice Non Reaction

To practice non-reaction in the face of triggering or disruptive behavior stay calm and centered. Avoid getting caught up in power struggles or emotional reactions.

Ignore It
