All our teaching methods (preparation, demonstration, circulate & support etc.) apply for Little Makers—but with preschool artists we use a more structured flow: two short demos, shorter work times, a movement break in the middle and a sensory cool-down at the end.

The Golden Rules for Little Makers
- Prep everything ahead of time. With little makers there’s no time to prepare materials during the class.
- Enthusiastic energy. It takes a little more to hold their attention.
- One step at a time. Demo only what they’re about to do next.
- Move before they melt down. The movement break is preventative, not earned.
- Use transition warnings: We’re going to do the movement break in 5 minute.
- Avoid the “dead zone” at the end. Sensory cool-down is the structured finish.

Welcome & Class Sync
- Transition into the studio. Greet each child by name. Keep your voice calm and friendly.
- Once everyone has arrived, sync the group + discharge initial excitement with a call and response: Pick one quick game that works for you
Demo / work time #1
- Big Demo: 10 min max. Keep it fun and magical. Hook attention + model focus. Do a quick reveal (cloth/box). Show ONE step. Talk less, show more.
- Work time: 10-15 min. First burst of making while focus is fresh.
- Say: “When you feel finished, raise your hand and I’ll come check.” - prevents yelling “i’m done!” and wandering
