To stay compliant and keep payroll accurate, all time off must be requested and tracked in Gusto. Managers play a key role in approving requests promptly and helping the studio stay safely staffed.

Our Culture: Flexibility First

We want team members to be able to take time off without friction. Managers should explore coverage options (shift swaps, schedule adjustments, staffing shifts) and collaborate to find solutions before considering a “no”

Types of Time Off

Sick Leave

If a team member is sick, they should stay home and recover.

Time Off (Paid or Unpaid)

Our cultural default is “yes.” We aim to be flexible and adjust staffing/operations so time off can happen whenever requested.

Time off may be denied only when approving it would make business operations unworkable (for example: two people want to take time off at the same time and we can’t safely staff programs or meet required ratios).

The Approval Process

  1. Conversation

Staff are encouraged to talk with you first to get verbal alignment, then submit the request in Gusto.

  2. Request in Gusto

When a request is submitted, you’ll receive an email from Gusto to approve or deny.

  3. Manager Approval

Approve/deny in Gusto as soon as possible and reconfigure the staffing schedule to accommodate. so scheduling and payroll stay accurate.

  4. Update shift schedule

If You Need to Deny a Request
