Guidelines for Photographing Student Artwork
When parents register for class or camp they sign a waiver giving us the right to photograph their child, and to share those photographs for business and marketing purposes only.
✅ Do
- Only take photos if asked to by the Owner or Studio Manager
- Do your best to take artwork-only photos or images where kids aren’t identifiable (like hands working or holding artwork in front of their face).
- Staff may only take photos/videos of children for approved studio purposes:
- Documenting projects, processes or outcomes of our work
- As part of project (example, self portrait reference)
- Documenting class or camp experiences for marketing purposes
❌ Do Not
- Never photograph a child in a vulnerable moment (injury/illness, bathroom needs, distress, or behavior/discipline situations).
- Do not store photos of the kids on your personal devices. If you use your personal device to take photos of the kids you must upload them immediately to the studio’s shared album and then delete it right away. Do not use personal cloud storage, personal email, or messaging apps to share or store photos of the kids.
- Do not share student photos/videos on your personal social media, website, or portfolio. Only designated staff may post to official CHS channels, and we avoid identifying details (full names, schools, addresses, schedules) and tagging families.
