Welcome / Introductions

Hi artists! Welcome to your very first day at Corner House Studio.

Introduce yourself (& other teachers)

I’m [Name], and I’ll be your art teacher today. (And this is [Name]—they’re teaching with us too.) We’re so happy you’re here.

Intro round with kids

Let’s learn names! When it’s your turn, say: “My name is ___, and I would rather paint with a toothbrush or a spaghetti noodle.” I’ll go first: My name is *, and I’d pick ***** because ___!

Introduce the studio

What kind of studio is this? You got it—an art studio. A studio is where artists work… and in here, you are real artists. You’ll get to paint, draw, build, and try new materials. You’ll make creative choices, experiment, make mistakes, and try again—just like real artists do.

Studio Rules

We have 4 rules in the studio

  1. Stay Safe: Walking feet, calm bodies, hands to yourself, and listen the first time.
  2. Be Kind: Use kind words and kind actions.
  3. Show Respect: Listen when someone is speaking, use inside voices
  4. Have Fun! Art is for exploring. You don’t have to “get it perfect.”

If we forget the rules

If you forget, it’s okay—we’ll remind you. If it keeps happening, we may have take a quick time out before you can rejoin the fun.
