If a child remains at the studio 10 minutes after their class or camp has ended begin the procedure.

  1. Never leave a child alone at the studio. The front desk person + one other staff member must stay present with the child until they are picked up.
  2. Call the primary contact → leave a voicemail → send them a text → call additional caregivers → call primary contact again.
  3. **Charge for the late pickup** as soon as the child is picked up.
    1. We understand that delays happen. However, if your child is picked up 10 or more minutes after the end of class a late fee of $25 will be charged.
    2. If they are picked up 30 minutes or more after class ends a fee of $75 will be charged.
  4. Always fill out an Incident Report Form when a late pickup happens.

Step 1: Call Primary Contact

Look up the child’s information in Care.com. Call the primary contact using the studio landline. If no answer, leave a voicemail.

Use the following script:

“Hi [Parent’s Name], this is [Your Name] at Corner House Studio. I’m here with [Artist’s Name]. Their art class ended at [end time], and they haven’t been picked up yet. Can you let me know your ETA?”

Step 2: Send Text to Primary Contact

After leaving a voicemail use your cell phone to send a text message to the primary contact with the above information. Wait 5 minutes for a response.

Step 3: Contact Additional Caretakers

If there is still no response, call any additional caretakers and emergency contacts listed in Care.com. Leave a voicemail and send a follow-up text if they do not answer.

Step 4: Call Primary Contact Again after 10 minutes (repeat)

If an artist is still at the studio 20 minutes after their class or camp has ended call the parent again.
